Information about Cadence Academic Network (CAN)
The Cadence Academic Network was launched in 2007 by Cadence. The aim was to promote the proliferation of leading-edge technologies and methodologies at universities renowned for their engineering and design excellence. A knowledge network among selected European universities, research institutes, industry advisors and Cadence was established to facilitate the sharing of technology expertise in the areas of verification, design and implementation of microelectronic systems.
Istanbul Technical University Very Large Scale Integration Laboratories (ITU VLSI LABs) is a member of the program since 2011 and recognized as regional leader in the fields of RF IC design, Analog and Mixed Signal IC design and Digital IC design.
Using Cadence at Istanbul Technical University
Cadence design environment is extensively utilized within the research activities at ITU VLSI LABs and within the curriculum of Istanbul Technical University, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Faculty, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
The information related to the infrastructure of the ITU VLSI CAD Laboratory can be obtained here. The main stream design flow of the CAD laboratory's 18 IC fabrication process is Cadence flow.
ITU VLSI LABs group has over 50 academics working on IC design related issues. Our researchers works on wide variety of circuits and systems. Current projects are related to Fully Integrated Reference Circuits, All Digital PLLs, Fractional-N Frequency Synthesizers, High Voltage Analog to Digital Converters, High Speed and High Resolution Digital to Analog Converters.
Besides the courses, each year around 15 undergraduate students prepares their BSEE graduation project using Cadence tools. Graduation project is a mandatory project course within which the senior students are asked to design an electronic system. It is worth 3 credits and encompasses 2 semesters.
The curriculum at ITU Electronics and Communication Engineering Department is highly oriented towards all aspects of integrated circuit design, including IC fabrication (1 undergraduate level course, 1 graduate level course), device modelling (1 undergraduate level course, 2 graduate level course), RF/Analog/MixedSignal/Digital IC design (9 undergraduate level course, 9 graduate level course).
