How to Draw Schematics ?

The readability of the circuit schematics is really important when multiple designer works on the same project.

Well drawn schematics also allow other designers/colleagues to check easily for common design errors.

1. Device Bulk Connections

Use name connection for device bulk biasing if the bulks are connected to the supply rails as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1.

Use the name connection even for the devices close to the rails this will help the reader to identify the pattern and it allows the copy/paste of identical structure.

If the bulk of a device is connected to a node other than rails, emphasize this connection so that it can be easily recognized as shown in Figure 2.

Figure 2.

2. Supply Rails

The current flow through the branches is a very important information while deciphring the circuit functionality. Hence, place the positive supply rail(s) upper left side while the negative rail(s) lower left side of the schematic. Note that the supply pins should be input type.
